Aquarium Fish Medications
In their wild state, marine
life forms are already highly susceptible to diseases and infirmities. Fish,
invertebrates and all manner of life forms enclosed in artificial settings like
saltwater aquariums and fish tanks are likewise proving to be even more
susceptible to sickness than their cousins out in the open seas. This is because
there is always an artificial hand trying to balance their ecological niche –
and in this case, that hand belongs to the person maintaining the aquariums or
fish tanks.
Like any human disease or
illness, the first logical step is always finding ways of diagnosing the living
entity, and diagnosing it well. It’s hard enough to set up treatment or find fish
medications when we do not know what the affliction is in the first place. It’s
harder still to correct a mistreatment that stems from misdiagnosis. Very often,
diseases are not fatal or contagious when detected early.
Unfortunately for many of
us fish keepers without veterinary background, detection is not an easy thing to
do. Even when you see that something is definitely wrong with one or more of
your aquarium or fish tank inhabitants, you are not particularly sure what
disease or injury has overtaken it (or them), or whether this disease or injury
is the primary affliction or a result of an older, more deeply rooted
affliction.
Is it due to poor
environmental conditions? Is it due to poor nutrition? Is there something wrong
with the filters and water balance? Is it a disease inherent to the marine life
form itself? Is it due to too much heat or too little heat? What about lighting
conditions, does it affect the fish as well? There are just too many variables
to consider – and most of us end up trying one or more miracle solutions.
These miracle solutions are usually very broad antibiotic/antibacterial
medical preparations that eliminate general fungal and bacterial infestation in
the waters. But even then, some diseases cannot be solved just as easily.
Any experienced saltwater
aquarium hobbyist and marine fish tank specialist knows the importance of
setting up their own hospital or quarantine tank – a separate holding pen where
sick or contagious animals are observed and treated with special medical
preparations. Usually a sick fish, coral or invertebrate is isolated from the
rest of the aquarium or tank mates because: one, the disease should be
controlled to prevent infecting the other life forms; and two, the fish, coral
or invertebrate is protected from the others in case it is targeted by its
healthier aquarium or tank mates (which is often the case).
Aquarium Fish Medications for marine life
are as diverse as the marine life itself. There are medications strictly for
fishes, for Invertebrates and finally for all other life forms that is not part
of the first two aforementioned classifications. There are also fish medications
necessary for the treatment of a group of diseases like bacterial,
gastro-intestinal, renal and even neurological, etc. There are medications in
the form of powders, liquid drops and finally oral pellets or flakes that is
almost similar to Fish Food composition.
We all know that for some
delicate marine life, taking a sick fish, invertebrate or coral to the vet is
almost impossible; and it is almost even more impossible to get the vet to make
house calls for them. This is why saltwater aquarium and fish tank owners try
their best to maintain the perfect living conditions for their pets. However, no
matter how “perfect” the environment, sometimes, the inevitable happens and
medications become inevitable.
We can offer you a whole range
of Aquarium Fish medications. We have antibiotic/antibacterial water solutions
